“Money” By Richard Armour

Workers earn it.
Spendthrifts burn it.
Bankers lend it.
Women spent it.
Forgers fake it.
Taxes take it.
Dying leave it.
Heirs receive it.
Thrifty save it.
Misers crave it.
Robbers seize it.
Rich increase it.
Gamblers lose it.
I could use it.

Poet/ literature lover always knows the basic steps on making a desirable poem and be able to convey the ideas as convincing as possible to meet the desired goal of imparting once feeling and be able to connect  with the readers well. The above poem is a narrative poem which the author recount on how different kind of people deals with money. The first line suggests on how workers gained the money, which somewhat emphasizes on how hard work it takes just to have it while the second line gives me the impression of how a compulsive shopper scorched it in just one click. On the other hand, third line tells on how bankers let somebody borrow or use it for their own expenditures while in the fourth line convey the idea of how women overindulged it!  The fifth line states how swindlers sham money in order to deceit people while having a pound of nervousness while lending it while the sixth line says how the taxes get hold of it in a less struggling way. In the series of lines that follows, we could easily cite that each line is a contradiction of the next – say, first line used verb which has a contradicting meaning to the verb used in the second line. So as the third and fourth implies, and so on.
In addition, the entire poem maintained its rhyme and it has four syllables each line which makes the poem attention-grabbing though it possess simplicity because it uses (third person) pronoun “it” from first line to the last one which makes the poem sounds a little bit redundant but become successful in emphasizing what the pronoun refers to. This make the readers think what the poem is all about.
Lastly, the above poem reveals moral lesson to the reader on how to trade on money wisely. It is obvious that it plays important role in our daily lives because it gives us the opportunity to buy and/or provide our needs but we should realize that we should be the one to handle it (money) than having it handling our lives.

Teachers open the door, you enter by yourself

“Teachers open the door, you enter by yourself”
There’s this quotes saying that when you were in elementary grade it is the primary responsibility of the teachers to teach you all the needed information required for your level of learning. In short, it is the fault of your teacher if you failed to learn the specific lesson intended for your year level. When you were in high school, the teachers’ responsibility towards their students learning become lessen due to some of the factors affecting the effectiveness of the learning process. There’s what we call the peer influence. As we enter high school there are big chances of amalgamation with a gang, which results to diminishing the student’s interest in school. Upon entering college, independent study is commonly put into practice.                                                                         In the above string of learning, though teachers are one of the primary source of learning, still, it is the student’s choice whether he choose to take education seriously or not. It means the chance for learning will always be there. The school/teachers would always cater the needs of the learners and it’s the students’ option whether he would grab the opportunity or will let it go.
One of the teacher’s responsibilities is to cater knowledge among youth. It is he who supplies all the academic needs of his students and the one who is responsible in helping the latter to mold his future. Teachers would always be there. They would always wait for the willingness of the students to trust them in making their dreams real. A teacher encourages learners to embrace learning. He set as a good model, second parent, leader, a classroom manager, and a motivator and it is the choice of the child whether he would enter the life of ‘school’ or would remain contented in whatever he has in life. It is not the teacher that makes your life but you of your own. It is not the teacher who makes your grade but it is you. Teachers only help you record your performance and give you the result of his evaluation through grades.

When you got little, you want more

“When you got little, you want more. When you get more you desire even more. But when you lose it you realize little is enough”
This thought for the day implies how we should deal with the series of ‘wants’ we have in our life. There are times where we tend to keep on dreaming for more and after obtaining them we still keep on craving even more. Every human being experienced being in the limelight of yearning, what we should realize is learning how to discipline ourselves and learn to say ‘stop’ when we thought this particular wants we have were not that necessary.
In terms of education, we would notice that a child starts schooling at age of five. Before he went to school he had already series of learning at home through his parents guide. He would then learn how to read and write upon entering school. His needs of knowledge do not stop after achieving the erudition of reading and writing so he keep on striving to the next level of learning..now includes comprehension, and perhaps, application and evaluation. After elementary and high school, he would probably take college education and possibly a master or a doctorate degree. In this series of learning process we could see the chain of learning do not stops. It is continuous. Truly, education is a lifelong process, but, we should bear in mind that not all learning produces good crops. We should put limitation within ourselves and make sure whatever learning we had will contribute not only for our self progression but also will benefit other people.
The last line of the thought for the day “when you lose it you realize little is enough” happens not literally in learning but in terms of some resources we had in the process of education. Like for example we had limited financial resources, it teaches us to be thrifty and resourceful in making our resources suitable to the project or requirements to be submitted.

“Children have more need of models than of critics” In school setting, teachers are considered as model. When children are in home their elders are considered as a paradigm. As we can see they imitate what the older individuals do. Be it good or bad. We need to show our student the right conduct and proper behavior so they would adopt desirable behavior. In case of classroom setting, teachers should employ rules and regulation that favored the student’s nature and should be prepared in a way students’ rights wouldn’t be hurt. We should avoid authoritative atmosphere in classroom because it might ruin the interest of the student to learn. Teachers should avoid criticizing his/her student’s shortcomings to avoid committing anxieties on the part of the learner. Feeling of such apprehensions would only make them feel failure which may result prevention of learning process. Based on my own experience, during my childhood days or even up to this time I am more motivated to learn if the one teaching me is a role model. Meaning he walk his talk. It is very hard for me to obey someone if I know the one saying it is not applying it himself. This thought for the day reminds me to become conscious of my actions. I must admit that at the first quarter of this semester I became very irresponsible due to lack direction, I didn’t set my priority first so I end up trying to do everything at a time without having a good output at all. The realization came that if I really wanted to become a teacher I should be a model. so I set myself to be one – little by little. I am now on the process of changing ‘me’ into a more accepted one because I want to teach children. I would love to be with them. And I like to become their teacher for me to be able to help them mold their future as early as possible and to be part of their training in becoming a good citizen of their generation.

The fear of suffering is worst more than suffering itself

“The fear of suffering is worst more than suffering itself”
It is an ordinary scenario in student’s life that they feel pressured and uneasy to the point of thinking to quit. We must admit that by simply thinking that you will be having a hard time or you know you will lose is such a daily burden. As a teacher, when you sensed that there is a particular student whom you think suffers from what mentioned above, you should talk to him/her about it and give some advices which you think could guide him/her to be back on track. Teacher should open his student’s mind of the different options he/she could choose from if ever he will or will not continue what he/she has started. Advices such as focusing your mind positively, have faith that everything will be alright, will make the student feel at ease. Even by just showing your concern toward your student will already alleviate discomfort on his/her part.
This thought for the day reminded  me on how I felt in facing life challenges. I was so afraid that I almost accept my ‘fate’ – being an out-of-school youth. I used to be so negative that I thought I may not able to enter college especially in PUPT because I thought it was tough. Yes, indeed, entering PUPT is tough! But now I know I could make it with Him in my side.
As  I accepted the challenge of going back to school gives me the chance to grow as a person and to become stronger because of the different challenges I have faced and,  be able to experience more which means opportunity to become even more stronger. I now value the significance of life’s difficulties and ignored the failures I had in life. I mean, I’m not afraid to fail because I know failures will make me stronger and will motivate me to make another attempt for me to overcome the said matter.

Three sentences for getting success

“Three sentences for getting success:
 (1.) Know more than others.
 (2). Work more than others.
    (3). Expect more than others.
Every teacher should inculcate in their students mind the love of learning. It is one of teachers’ responsibilities to motivate their students in enriching their thoughts and ideas which could possibly help them progress as an individual. Each person should set their mind to know more than others because if they do success will chase them. It is also evident that successful people are those who really work hard and had dreamed, so we should work more than others and do not hesitate to provide a helping hands whenever there is in need. Never vacillate to offer help because as what the holy gospel says, whoever helped will receive more than what he has given. By following the three sentences for getting success (above) will be the time we could savor the true taste of what we call “success”. This term do not necessarily mean possessing a series of luxurious property but of  feeling the sense of contentment by simply knowing that you have done your part and you do your best not only by improving yourself but also contributing part of it to those who really in indigence.
In addition, this thought for the day challenged me to do my best, but with not too much expectation for Dr. Carlos said, “avoid believing too much in yourself”. As a future teacher, I should be five steps ahead of my students. Meaning I have to be more knowledgeable, and proficient in whatever I do inside the classroom. I must have the “mastery of the subject-matter” quality for me to be able to become an effective teacher because by having that professional attribute will give me the opportunity to success in my chosen field of study.

thought for the day

“Action is the best interpreter of one’s behavior”
We have different types of personality. We have introvert, extrovert and ambivert. As future teacher, we should realize that whatever types of personality our student may possess, observing our students behavior towards our lessons/daily activities could help us determine their feelings/thoughts about it. We should observe them whether they respond to the activities we prepared or not participating at all. In case of encountering introvert students, thorough observations of their actions could give us the idea of what they feel and what they think but of course we shouldn’t rely on their attitude all the time because we might misinterpret them, sometimes we should also consider the idea of talking to them so we could better understand them for us to develop a harmonious teacher-learner relationship and ensure learning would take place.
As a student, I learned to be careful with my behavior. I learned to discipline myself though I’m not saying that I have now a perfect behavior. At least I learned how to hold myself in times I thought I’m going to lose it. Like for example I get mad on something, I try my best to hold my emotion and be calm after detaching from whatever negative emotion I have.
I realized my future depends on my attitudes. I started to change some of my negative traits and improve some of positive attributes I have for me to have a healthy social relationship. I can say that some instances in life gave me the opportunity to improve myself emotionally. Like for example having encountered with people whom you don’t like. They would tend to irritate you but when you realize that you cannot avoid them you develop the behavior of acceptance and be able to adjust yourself in the said situation and eventually develop good social relationship.                                                        I’m not fond of sharing personal things or even open up myself to anyone. I’m not too closed with someone else but since I learned that my attitude defines me as a person, I’m able to face my weaknesses and currently struggling hard to turn it into my strength.
